PAT Testing

Overview

This course provides a comprehensive overview of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and covers all the relevant topics that you need to know to become a proficient PAT Tester. The course begins with an Introduction to PAT Testing, which covers the basic principles of PAT and its importance in maintaining electrical safety in the workplace. You will also learn about the relevant statutory provisions for PAT testing, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Electricity at Work Regulations.

In order to carry out PAT testing safely and effectively, it is essential to conduct a risk assessment. Therefore, you will learn how to carry out a PAT Testing Risk Assessment and how to reduce and control risks associated with electrical appliances. The course also covers the classification of electrical units and appliances, including their associated risks and hazards. You will learn how to conduct an initial visual examination of appliances and use instruments for PAT testing and equipment inspection.

One of the most important aspects of PAT Testing is electrical installation testing. This course provides detailed guidance on carrying out electrical installation testing as part of the PAT Testing process.
